Going Somewhere / Salt Lines
an ode to loving
exploring the edges and boundaries of the body - how we fold, crease, expand; connect, move, love; transcend. acknowledging the multiplicity of the self, the porousness of skin, the commonality of experiences, the circular tide of time. Going Somewhere surfaces a mesh of lines, moments, blobs – a network of crossings, happenings, blooming, a map of that which has passed and will pass.
we situate in the gut of The Human™, occupying the alternate world of the inner (meta)physical terrain of the body. definitions blur, selves converge, guts reveal. where (why) do the lines lie? the grotesque can be tenderly loved, the tentative can become certainty. we wade, navigate, acknowledge; moments, encounters, awakenings. at the heart of this (re)imagined subterranean underwater world is an ode to loving, living.

How does the Self encounter others?
Noticing each Self not just as a homogenous singular, but a collective entity of diversity, multiplicity: each Self an individualised, ever-shifting blend of external influences, conditions, internal understanding, adapting, relearning.
Tentatively, a step out - shifting sense of self meets other shifts. New lines begin to be spun.
Meetings, re-meetings-
In that there is no unchanging Self, a meeting of familiar Others will be at once old and new.
(I will always be getting to know you.)
Worlds collide, clash, spark -
In the mirror of the Other, each Self - perhaps fearfully, defensively, unknowingly - confronts self. So begins the self-navigation of the Self, this inner terrain lit via encounters with Others …
Sense of self collapses, rebuilds, collapses, rebuilds, perhaps beginning to converge, meld, yield.
When two become one:
Hair unravels - skin sheds - the Self unveils, coagulates, re-joins - a little more touched, less distinguished - scattered Self gathers, re-establishes with you in the mix.
Tenderly, each Self cups the Other. Bodies blur. Cells of old selves no longer necessary dust off.
Acknowledgement leads to awakenings…
Moments - encounters, interactions, conversations - illuminate.
Daybreak. The horizon across blooms, the first of many: acknowledgement leads to awakenings, to new horizons…
The Self shaped by Others shapes Others too: learn, relearn who we are; build, rebuild our worlds. Eventually ... approaching an understanding of the worlds inside and out.
